You’ve Got Options

At Kingwood Orthodontics, we will provide treatment that is tailored to your individual needs and desires. Our board certified orthodontists are highly skilled in different treatment modalities and strive to produce excellent results.

Braces

  • While traditional metal braces have been the most popular option for decades, they have undergone significant improvements over the years. Today, they are smaller and more comfortable than ever before. At Kingwood Orthodontics we are proud to use metal braces from American Orthodontics, a company dedicated to manufacturing the highest quality products right here in the USA.

  • Another option we are excited to offer our patients are gold braces. Through a unique proprietary process and zirconia finish, these White Gold braces have a fresh look that won’t chip or fade (like other gold braces). These braces tend to be less noticeable than metal braces and are often chosen for this reason. Other patients just love the idea of gold braces and choose them for fun. Since these braces are produced to the same prescription and specifications as our traditional metal braces, they are equally effective in providing quality treatment.

  • For patients who want straight teeth but don’t like the appearance of metal braces, our office recommends ceramic braces. These braces are made from a polycrystalline alumina material which allows them to blend in with the teeth, be highly durable, and stain-resistant (i.e coffee, wine). We consider ceramic and metal braces to be equally effective when it comes to crafting a beautiful smile. Deciding between metal and ceramic brackets is a matter of patient preference and cost. While ceramic braces do cost a little more, their subtle appearance makes them a great option for adults or older teens with high aesthetic concerns.

Invisalign

While metal braces have been the most popular orthodontic option for decades, we are now able to offer more esthetic treatment that also deliver beautiful smiles! Clear aligners, like Invisalign, are a great alternative to traditional braces and may be more fitting of your busy lifestyle.

  • More adults are seeking out orthodontic treatment than ever before, and invisalign offers a modern-day option to perfect those pearly whites with confidence. The well-camouflaged trays allow adults to achieve the smile they want under the radar.

  • Selfie-obsessed? No problem. Invisalign allows today’s busy teen to strike a pose at any time without feeling self-conscious. And for those in sports, fine arts, or performing arts, Invisalign makes a beautiful smile achievable with minimal disruption to your extracurriculars.

Surgical Orthodontics

Surgical orthodontics requires a multi-disciplinary approach. Our orthodontists will first align the teeth within their respective jaws and work up to the necessary wires prior to surgery. We then refer the patient to an Oral Surgeon to surgically reposition the jaws to their ideal position.

This combined approach corrects the bite and can dramatically improve a patient’s ability to chew, speak, and even breathe. The changes in facial esthetics can also be profound.

Orthodontics for All Ages

  • Orthodontic treatment in children tends to focus on two things: correcting detrimental growth patterns and helping the permanent teeth grow into the mouth. We try to achieve these two goals using the fewest appliances possible and in approximately one year of treatment time. After early orthodontic treatment is finished a retainer is worn, and the patient is seen about every 6 months by the orthodontist to monitor their growth and development until all of the baby teeth have been lost.

  • Orthodontic treatment in teenagers takes a comprehensive approach. The permanent teeth are straightened to create a stellar smile and the bite is corrected to function appropriately, creating a result that is both beautiful and comfortable. Treatment in teens tends to last a year and a half to two years, and most patients choose traditional metal brackets with rubber bands to move their teeth, though Invisalign is growing in popularity with many of our middle and high schoolers. Regardless of what appliances are used, a lifetime of retainer wear awaits every patient after treatment is finished with permanent and removable retainer options available.

  • Orthodontic treatment in adults takes many forms. Whether you are just trying to touch up your smile because the retainers of your youth fell by the wayside or this would be your first time time in orthodontic treatment, you are not alone. Every year more and more adults are seeking straighter teeth and better bites, and thanks to modern technologies and techniques orthodontic care has never been more comfortable, camouflaged, or convenient. Clear braces and Invisalign offer appealing orthodontic options for adults that are compatible with busy lifestyles, but make sure you have gotten a clean bill of health from your dentist before starting orthodontics to avoid unwanted side effects during treatment.
