Retainers

Shift Happens

Once we have completed moving your teeth – with braces or aligners – teeth still want to move. The next phase of treatment requires holding your teeth in their new positions. Wearing retainers is a critical part of treatment.

Overview

Once we have completed moving your teeth into the right positions – with braces or aligners – teeth still want to move. The next phase of treatment requires holding your teeth in their new positions. Wearing your retainer is an integral part of your treatment and one that should be taken seriously.

Think of your retainers as an insurance policy on your new smile.

We will help you choose the best retainer for your treatment.

One set of retainers is included with your treatment.

Types of Retainers

There are various types of retainers that serve different purposes and are indicated in different situations. Typically, as long as the patient wears their prescribed retainer, the teeth will remain in their proper positions.

The most commonly used retainer. Many patients prefer these due to their ease of use and their subtle appearance.
Dogs LOVE to tear these up. Please keep your retainers away from your pets.

Nighttime for Lifetime

Say it loud and proud. The only way our orthodontist can be sure your teeth will stay straight is to recommend continued wear of your retainers. Consider this your insurance policy against orthodontic relapse.
